Quick answer: Aerospace Technical Publications suits you if you hold a BE/BTech in Aeronautical or Aerospace Engineering, or an AME in Mechanical or Avionics, you write clear English, you like working with rules and detail, and you can commit three months of full-time training in Bengaluru. If most of those fit, enrolling is a sensible next step. If a few do not, read on. It is better to know now than three weeks in.
Every year, a lot of aerospace graduates ask the same thing. “Everyone says tech pub is a good start. But is it for me?” Fair question. This is not a career for everyone, and we would rather say that up front.
Answer these seven questions honestly.
1. Do you have the right degree?
This one is simple. The GLOINNT Aerospace Technical Publications Training is open to:
- BE/BTech graduates in Aeronautical or Aerospace Engineering
- AME students in Mechanical or Avionics
If you have a Diploma or ITI, this course is not open to you. We explain why in our honest answer on whether Diploma or ITI students can apply. If you qualify, the full steps are in our eligibility and how to apply guide.
2. Are you happy working with documents, not just machines?
Tech pub engineers do not build the aircraft. They write the manuals that tell others how to maintain it. Aircraft Maintenance Manuals, Illustrated Parts Catalogues, Wiring Diagram Manuals, Service Bulletins. If a technician in a hangar follows your steps, your work matters.
If you picture yourself on the shop floor all day, this may not be your path. If you like understanding how systems work and explaining them clearly, you will fit in well. Our guide on what a technical publications engineer actually does gives a closer look.
3. Is your written English clear?
You do not need to be a poet. You do need to write short, exact sentences that cannot be misread. The course includes a B2 level English test as part of the final evaluation, so this is taken seriously.
A quick check: can you explain how a hydraulic pump works in five clear steps, without extra words? If yes, you are on the right track.
4. Do you like rules, standards and detail?
Aerospace documentation runs on standards. You will work with ATA 100, iSpec 2200, S1000D and ASD-STE100. They tell you how to structure, number and word everything.
Some people find this boring. Others find it satisfying, like solving a puzzle where every piece has a place. Neither is wrong. But it helps to know which one you are. Read our guide on S1000D for aerospace freshers to get a feel for it.
5. Can you give three months, full time, in Bengaluru?
The training runs for 3 months, Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, in Bengaluru. It is a full-time commitment. You cannot do it alongside another job or a full college schedule.
If relocating is hard, plan the cost and stay before you apply. Our course fees breakdown explains what you are paying for, and the GLOINNT Tech Pub Scholarship may help reduce training fees.
6. Are you ready to learn new tools?
You will use Arbortext Editor to author manuals and IsoDraw to create technical illustrations. You also learn to read 2D and 3D engineering drawings and validate your work on an actual aircraft. None of this requires prior experience. You learn from the basics.

7. Are you okay starting as a trainee and growing from there?
Most freshers start in entry-level roles and build up. Salaries and growth depend on the company, your skills and your performance. For realistic numbers, see our tech pub salary guide, and for the longer path, read the career path from trainee to team lead.

How did you score?
- 6 or 7 yes: You are a strong fit. Apply and ask about the next batch.
- 4 or 5 yes: Probably a fit, but talk to our admissions team about the gaps first.
- 3 or fewer: Pause. Compare options in tech pub vs AME vs design engineering before you decide.
